Job Title: Staff Accountant
Compensation: $70,000 - $85,000/year

Location: West Sacramento, CA

Overview:
Ledgent is partnering with a well-established organization to identify a detail-oriented and proactive Staff Accountant. This role plays a key part in supporting the finance team by maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with reconciliations, and contributing to the overall integrity of financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform regular account reconciliations across various financial categories to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepare and post journal entries for both routine and ad hoc financial transactions.
  • Investigate discrepancies and anomalies in financial data, providing insights and resolutions.
  • Monitor and reconcile incoming payments, including cash and card transactions, and flag inconsistencies for operational review.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of accounting activities and ensure records are up to date.
  • Support the financial close process at month-end, quarter-end, and year-end.
  • Record banking activity and complete bank reconciliations in a timely manner.
  • Reconcile disbursement accounts, payroll entries, customer balances, and other financial ledgers.
  • Review and process invoices, ensuring proper allocation to relevant accounts.
  • Assist external auditors by compiling necessary documentation and account details for annual audits.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and enhance financial reporting procedures.
  • Conduct research on accounting standards and apply appropriate treatment to complex transactions.
  • Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned by leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in accounting or finance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational capabilities.
  • Solid understanding of general accounting principles and practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently or collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in spreadsheet tools and general office software.
  • Comfortable working in a desk-based, computer-intensive environment.
